Spider-Woman by StingRoll Spider-Woman by StingRoll
This is just the coloured version of the Spider-Woman picture I have been doing.

Coloured with coloured pencils and the background is just some half-arsed job I knocked up in Photoshop.

Sketch can be seen here: fav.me/d6dd4bq
Inked version here: fav.me/d6dd6qh

This was based on the art from the 1993 Marvel Universe trading cards. I have tried looking for the artist that did these but I'm not having much luck. If anyone actually knows who did the art for these please let me know so I can give credit.

I think it looks Ok...

Nope, I think this one has changed a bit over the years so she is called somethign else now like Madam Web or something but she's essentially Spider-Man but with boobs.... oh and I think she has some sort of precog thing going on too.

I think there are probably 2 or 3 Spider-Women if I remember correctly.

Spiders bloody everywhere :D

:O Venom could, in theory, attach to a woman.

It certainly does look ok! I've always liked this costume. There's already been a comment about the slightly-off left hand - but it's an awkward pose to nail. Very nice balance in the colours though and the coloured pencil works surprisingly well - but how comes you didn't do all the colours in Photoshop?

Thanks a lot Rob, as always I really appreciate your input.
Yeah, that hand is no good at all .

As for not using Photoshop, I might try colour this again with Photoshop at some point later. Colour pencil is just easy for me as it means I can still hang out with the missus and the little fella while drawing instead of being locked away in the back room on the computer. I tend to do most of my art stuff in the 30mins in the evening when StingRoll Jnr is having his bath and last feed.

I've actually been looking into art apps for the Tablet I have to see if I can find a happy medium.

Good to hear your finding time to keep your hand in with the art mate. It's not easy I know - time's always the enemy for me too when it comes to drawing.
I'm not trying to sound like an ad-man for Samsung - but I recently shelled out on their Note 10.1 tablet because I also had the problem of having to go to the 'back room' on the computer whenever I wanted to do some digital art. I went for the Note because it comes with a 'proper' stylus - and feels alot like a Wacom tablet but is a helluva lot cheaper than a Wacom Cintiq! It was still a pretty big investment though - but I've been happy with it and I've found that I've started to complete most of my rough sketches on it instead of pencil and paper. It also comes with Photoshop Touch (although you can get that for other tablets too) - which, although fairly basic, is pretty handy for roughing out ideas and blocking in colours.

Cheers for that man.
I do have Nexus 10 tablet and I was hoping I'd be able to do something with that so I could be a bit more arty whilst still remaining a part of my family.

I'm actually quite jealous that you can take a piece all the way from sketch through to final colours. works really well.

Haha, thanks a lot mate, I really appreciate that.
I think I am probably better with my colour pencils but to use them I have to do everything else up to that point

interesting approach! maybe we could do a collaboration one day, as I know I'll never colour any of my work...

just a heads up, when posting stuff like this your going to get a ton of flack from people for not citing your sources appropriately. case in point, this is a direct reference from the spider woman card(www.google.com/search?newwindo… from marvel universe trading card set 3.  no one's going to care that you copied it off of a card, everyone has done this at some point in time for practice and some still do.  just cite your sources and give credit to the artist of the original.

not bad by the way, colors look good.  left hand looks a bit too oblong around the knuckle.  Practice foreshortening to improve this.

Brilliant, thanks a lot for that mate.
Oversight on my behalf so I am glad you picked me up on this and have altered the description on the picture as a result.

Appreciate the feedback as well!
